My favorite project to date is the 2009 Best Buy Super Bowl commercial I was a part of.

Current Position

Babcock Automotive Advertising (BAA) is a full service advertising agency specializing in the Tier 3 automotive promotions.  Tier 3 advertising revolves completely around specific car dealerships with the goal of convincing consumers to choose one dealership over another. This is different from Tier 1 & Tier 2 advertising which focuses on the brand and specific car features. As BAA is a start up company, I have had the opportunity to take part in front and back end operations for the company and its clients. I take on many responsibilities, but primarily focus on overseeing client accounts. Below I have briefly listed my job description; you can see a more detailed list in my resume:

Creative:

Again, I specialize in Account Management, but have been able to partake in some of the creative aspect. I attribute this to being able to fully understand my clients, so I am albe to work with their vision.

Copywriting & Onscreen

Print Example

In the gallery below, I conceptualized & designed the finished product.
1. A print ad that ran in The Cheesecake Factory menu.
2. The 2011 BAA Christmas/Holiday card which was sent to clients and vendors.
3. A print ad that ran after a dealer’s NASCAR sponsored event.


Concept Execution & Technical Skill:

Pictured in this gallery are two creative assignments I was given & my final results. From the creative director’s initial sketch, I completed these ads using the Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator programs.

BBDO: Best Buy Advertising

Best Buy’s February Laptop Campaign: First Aired Super Bowl Sunday (Feb 01, 09)

During my college externship, I moonlighted at the local Best Buy in West Los Angeles. While there, I was able to present story concept to BBDO, Best Buy’s adverting agency, for an upcoming commercial featuring employees.

With a background in advertising and my understanding of the campaign,  I was able to polish my story into what was eventually produced into a Super Bowl television commercial; see video below.

Even though Best Buy has this video featured on their own YouTube Page, I also uploaded it to my personal account with the intent of promoting myself. Within the first 3 Months of my promotion, the video had over 10,000 views. Currently the video has had over 30,000 views, and continues to have daily unique plays.

 

By June 19, 2009 a search of my name in Google would result in a “Google Suggestion/Autocomplete” of the video; which I attribute to my rigorous self promotion. (Google’s Autocomplete predicts and displays search queries based on their users’ topical search activities)

This campaign has not only been featured on television, but other media such as print, internet, and radio. It also ran internationally in markets such as Israel, where the commercial was dubbed in Hebrew for BestBuy.com.

It is important to note, that the Marketing Communications degree at Johnson & Wales University (JWU) was specifically tailored to prepare graduates to work for an advertising agency. Classes were developed to teach the fundamentals of PR, consumer behavior, and research methods. In addition, learning to manage market research projects, plan/buy media, and develop advertising campaigns & materials for print/broadcasting were emphasized in the curriculum.

Not only were we required to complete an externship to gain real world experience, but businesses partnered with the school to allow for hands on experience in the classroom.
